Progressive Insurance San Diego International Boat Show Opens Thursday
Media opportunities at Southern California's premier summer boating event

The Progressive® Insurance San Diego International Boat Show® is making a big splash this year with more nautical fun and boats than ever before. More than 150 boats line Harbor Island at the Sheraton Marina for the annual boat show, opening at Noon today. Show goers can take advantage of deals on everything from entry-level family cruisers and personal watercraft to luxury motor and sailing yachts, plus an expanded array of superyachts over 80 ft. in length. The show is 20 percent larger than last year with more boats, more attractions and more learning opportunities than ever before.

  • New! Climb aboard eight 80 ft. +superyachts.
  • New! Free sailing lesson aboard the SailingSimulator, featured at the America’s Cup: Experience the sailing simulator, which recreates the movement of a boat under sail so participants can get a feel for the water, without getting wet. It's a unique training platform for sailors of all ages.
  • New! Visit the floating Tiki Bar by Fiddler’s Green and Anchors & Ales Beer Garden to enjoy libations and local cuisine favorites while listening to island/boat music from a steel drum band.
  • New! Tour the San Diego Maritime Museum’s Vietnam War boat, the historic PCF 816 Swift Boat.
  • Try It Cove, where attendees can try standup paddle boarding (SUP), kayaking and more on the water.
  • Learn-to-SCUBA at the ‘Be a Diver Pool’, where visitors can learn to dive in a heated tank.
  • New! Expanded seminars including sailing to Mexico and sportfishing.Learn how to keep that boat in tip-top shape at Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center featuring free DIY clinics.
  • New! Little skippers can enjoy the Kids’ Zone.
  • Discover Boating Hands-on Skills Training provide daily boating clinics while underway, providing visitors a chance to take the helm and hone their skills on the water.
